Creating an account

What is a user account?

A user account on Picstar is your public profile as a photographer. From it you can enter contests, join associations, compete in leagues, and showcase your photographs and awards.

Step 1 — Access the website

Go to picstar.es and click Sign up. If you already have an account, use Log in: both lead to the same place.

Step 2 — Enter your email address

Type your email address and confirm. Picstar uses a magic link system: you don't need to create or remember any password.

Step 3 — Check your email

You will receive an email with an access link and a six-digit code. Click the link or type the code into the window that stayed open: either one gets you in.

  • If the account already existed, you'll go straight into the application.
  • If the account did not exist, the profile creation form will open.

If the access email doesn't arrive

  • Check that you typed the address correctly.
  • Look in your spam and promotions folders.
  • If the link has expired, go back to Sign in and request a new one.
  • If it still hasn't arrived after a few minutes, try another browser and check your connection.

Step 4 — Complete your profile

Fill in the following fields:

  • Nickname — public, unique username
  • Address — required, with street and town or city; the number is optional. If you can't find it among the suggestions, or your home has no number, you can type it in yourself: we explain how in Setting up your profile
  • Phone — required
  • Date of birth
  • Preferred language
  • Description / Bio — free text about yourself
  • Social networks — Instagram or others (optional)
  • Profile picture — an image that represents you (optional)
  • Cover photo — header image for your public profile (optional)

Your address is never shared publicly. It is only used if you win a prize, to send you the medals. The form explains this in the (i) next to the field.

What does your public profile look like?

Once created, your profile shows:

  • Your first and last name, with your nickname below, and your description
  • Photographs submitted to contests
  • Contests and leagues you have participated in
  • Awards obtained
