Billing and payments

To charge entry fees for paid contests and leagues, the association connects its Stripe account, the payment platform integrated into Picstar. The connection is made with one click: there's no need to copy any keys or touch anything technical, and the money from payments goes straight to the association's account.

Step 1 — Connect with Stripe

  1. Go to My associations → gear icon → Settings → Payments
  2. In the Payments with Picstar (Stripe Connect) section, click Connect with Stripe
  3. The Stripe wizard opens: it will ask for the association's details (tax ID, the bank account to receive payments, and a contact person). If you already have a Stripe account, sign in and choose to reuse it; if not, one is created in the same process.
  4. When you're done, you're automatically taken back to Picstar

You can leave the wizard partway through without losing anything: when you come back to the Payments screen you'll see the Continue setup on Stripe button.

Step 2 — Check the status

On the Payments screen you'll see the connection status:

  • Connected — everything is ready, you can start collecting payments
  • Setup pending — some information is missing in Stripe; use Continue setup on Stripe
  • Under review by Stripe — Stripe is verifying the details (usually resolved within minutes or hours)

Step 3 — Configure payments

With the account connected, in the same Payments tab configure:

  • Currency — the currency payments will be made in (e.g. EUR)
  • Taxes — indicate whether you apply taxes on payments:
    • If you're a non-profit association → no taxes
    • If you're a company → configure the corresponding percentage (e.g. 21% VAT)

Save your changes. From this point on, the association can receive payments through the platform.

Disconnecting the account

From the same screen you can Disconnect the Stripe account. Doing so stops Picstar from charging on it: no new paid salons can be published until you reconnect. Your Stripe account itself is untouched — it's only unlinked from Picstar — and contests already published, along with their history, don't change.

ℹ️

Did you set up Picstar with API keys a while back? That system was retired: those keys remain in use only for contests published before the change. To publish new paid contests you need to connect the account using the Connect with Stripe button.
