Setting up your profile
Once your account is created, you can complete and update your profile at any time. Go to Settings and open the General tab.
How to reach your dashboard
Click the circle with your avatar, at the top right. A menu opens with access to your Account, your Contests, your Associations and Sign out. Go into Account to open the dashboard.
Personal information
You can edit the following fields:
- Nickname — public username (must be unique)
- First and last name — cannot be changed once set
- Email — cannot be changed
- Address — optional
- Phone
- Date of birth
- Preferred language — changes the language of the whole application (Spanish, Catalan, etc.)
- Description / Bio — free text about yourself
- Social networks — e.g. Instagram. They will appear as an icon on your public profile and let people navigate directly to your account
Memberships
If you belong to a photographic federation or confederation, you can store your membership number here:
| Organisation | Field |
|---|---|
| FIAP | FIAP member number |
| CEF | CEF member number |
| FCF | FCF member number |
| FAFPV | FAFPV member number |
All of them are optional, up to 20 characters. They are worth filling in: when you enter a contest sponsored by one of these organisations, that number is what allows it to award you its points. The organising association can see it in its participant list.
Not every organisation that sponsors contests on Picstar is listed here. Some, such as FAFIBA, do not keep membership numbers for entrants, so there is nothing to save for them.
Photos
- Profile picture — image that represents you on the platform
- Cover photo — header image that appears at the top of your public profile
Preferences and notifications
In the Preferences tab you can manage which email notifications you want to receive:
- New contest available
- Notice that a contest is about to end
- Publication of a contest's winners
- Notice of pending voting (if you are a juror)
Save your changes when you're done.
Privacy
In that same Preferences tab, the Privacy → Section visibility block decides which parts of your profile everyone else can see. There are four switches and all of them start on: by default your profile is public.
| Switch | What you hide by turning it off |
|---|---|
| Photos public | The photographs tab |
| Statistics public | The average score, contests won and participations cards |
| Contests public | The tab with the contests you have taken part in |
| Leagues public | The leagues tab |
Turning a switch off hides that section from other visitors: you still see it whenever you visit your own profile.
Seen from outside, a profile with hidden sections behaves like this:
- Hidden tabs (photos, contests, leagues) show a dash "–" instead of the number, and are left with no content.
- If you hide your statistics, "The Statistics section is private" appears in their place.
- If you turn all four switches off, the notice is not repeated section by section: "This profile is private" is shown once.
Save your changes when you're done.
Your public profile
Once your profile is saved, anyone can visit your public page, where they will see:
- Profile picture and cover photo
- Description and social networks (with a direct link)
- Average score of your submitted photographs
- Number of contests you have participated in
- Contests and leagues you have participated in
- Awards obtained
Any of these sections can be hidden from Preferences → Privacy.
If your changes aren't saved
- Check that every required field is filled in: the form won't save until they are.
- Make sure you're still signed in.
- If the menu doesn't open when you click your avatar, reload the page.
If the problem persists, write to us from the Contact page.
