How paid contests work
Contests where you charge an entry fee involve two concepts, which you only pay when you run one:
1. Salon license — paid when you publish the contest, priced according to the number of authors who take part:
| Tier | Authors | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Club Salon | Up to 80 | €85 + VAT |
| 2 · Salon | Up to 150 | €145 + VAT |
| 3 · Grand Salon | Up to 400 | €295 + VAT |
| 4 · Salon Magno | No limit | €495 + VAT |
When you publish, you choose the tier based on the authors you expect. When the contest ends, actual participation is counted: if you went over the tier's cap, it's settled by paying only the difference between tiers; if you stayed under it, there's nothing to do.
2. Commission on entry fees — Picstar applies a 6% commission on the base amount (excluding VAT) of each entry fee collected. It's deducted automatically from the payment, and you can pass it on in the entry fee if you want.
Have a promo code? It's applied when you publish the contest, in the salon license dialog, and it can lower the license and the commission for that contest. It's explained in Creating a paid contest.
To charge participants, the association needs to have its Stripe account connected. This is explained in Billing and payments.
Paid plans
The pricing page lists the plans available at any given time, with their yearly fee and what each one includes. The free plan is always there.
If you already have an association, you can check and change its plan from My associations → → Subscription.
